Sugar Paper at Target: 2016 Edition!

Just when you thought you didn’t have to rush to Target — it’s nearly that time of year again! On November 1, Sugar Paper Los Angeles brings its stripes, polka dots, gold foil and general sense of fabulous to all 1700 stores as well as online with a dynamic range of planners and calendars — and you are not going to want to start 2016 without this chic, super-affordable range. Last year’s line was a popular Target best-seller and sold out very quickly, Sugar’s Chelsea Shukov told me.

First, I have to dedicate a moment of swoon to the envelope clutch, a new format this year. I received one and have to say, it is beyond adorable in person. Lined with striped fabric and available two colorways, it plays on both stationery trends and runway fashions. Not only can it hold letter-sized documents and other components from the collection, I think it can pass for a clutch in a pinch. At $12.99 a pop, these are going to go fast!

It’s not too surprising that it’s Chelsea’s favorite too. “We experimented with them thinking that they might never see the light of day, but the entire office fell in love with them when the samples arrived. We love how they turned out!”

There’s even a little loop for a pen. These come in two sizes — 5″x8″ and 8.5″x11″ — for $9.99 and $12.99. The smaller size fits neatly into the envelope clutch.Target-2016-14Personally I can’t get enough of this Sugar Paper Pink, a branded color. “Ballet slipper pink is great because it can be feminine and chic, but it can also be a neutral,” Chelsea noted. “We have been using a lot of black lately, but pink is actually our favorite color.”

Shiny gold and matte kraft options invite everyone to pick their favorites to style their desk and person. Target-2016-01Target-2016-12

Target-2016-v3-15All around, the products are sophisticated, approachable and affordable— not an easy design spot to inhabit. They’ve also inspired upcoming releases in Sugar’s boutique collection, Chelsea pointed out. “We have plans to expand our desk offering to include more everyday items and also to make more specialty items. We are strong believers in a high-low approach. Everyday items like paper clips should be affordable, while a high-end planner (hint hint) is something that our customers are asking us to make for the boutique channel.”

Meanwhile, nothing in the entire Target range is more than $14.99 — that’s a lot of style on a shoestring! Everything is slated to hit Targets November 1, but please be aware that not all Targets get stock at the same time. Call ahead, and be sure to check online too to save yourself a trip.
