Legion Reinvents the Paper Pad!

I rarely get excited about art supplies, but I know these are going to bear many an artistic masterpiece! Legion Paper’s bold pad redesign bids a fond farewell to boring old conventional pads with varnish text against a vibrant background color. Designed for the artist’s eye, the clean type tells you the paper, while a beautiful gloss overlay paints an ephemeral verbal picture of exactly what that paper can do.

I’m loving these color combos! Orange on maroon? That’s Stonehenge Light.

Red on orange? That’s Yupo Medium.

Coral on navy? That’s Lenox Cotton.

The papers themselves haven’t changed. Stonehenge was created in 1972 specifically as a 100% cotton deckled paper for the printmaking community, made to rival the more expensive European mouldmade papers. It was quickly adopted not just by printmakers, but by artists as well, eventually gaining worldwide recognition as a paper that works wonderfully across as a range of fine art applications.

Meanwhile, Yupo is a quiet paper revolution with its very own set of laws. Its special qualities change the way drawing, painting and fine art printing are understood. For watercolor applications, Yupo allows them to wipe clean and have an unlimited number of trials. Yupo is tree-free and fully recyclable. Its glossy sheets are waterproof and cannot be torn or buckled.

Finally, Lenox is a machine made grade created to have its own distinctive characteristics, making it suitable for a variety of media. It is not deckled edge or watermarked, but its offwhite shade, medium textured surface and supple feel make it an excellent substitute for pricier European papers.

Together, all these covers connect all of the Legion Paper brands under a most easy-to-recognize and, better still, easy-to-appreciate umbrella. Sheets per pad as well as the colors of the paper itself will vary.
