Long before I was a paper nerd, I was a book nerd. I cannot actually remember my Montessori teacher, Mrs. Hissong, teaching me to read at age four — but I remember her taking me into the room where it all happened, and then leaving with this incredible power. The first thing I saw was a shelf of books, and I promised myself I would read every one (and I did!). Growing up, all my books had water damage alongside their bottom edge, since the bathtub was my evening library.
These days, seeing all things literary absolutely blooming in the gift world — the same domain that brought us e-cards and Beanie Babies — feels rewarding and hopeful. Here, makers transport us to all sorts of brilliant places, with lots of love being lavished on libraries and independent bookstores as well. With the exception of two items, everything I’m sharing below was assembled from extra spring and summer Stationery Trends submissions — and they are too riveting to not compile here!

As you can see, this trend is in full flower — with no sign of slowing down. Since we are going into planner season (!), I am closing with an ultra-luxe, embroidered gem from Rifle Paper Co. — and great news, it is currently on sale (along with a lot else during their Memorial Day Sale). Hopefully this long weekend affords you some time not just for happy reading, but for spreading some stationery love for this pasttime as well!
