Running a small brand alongside the chaos of everyday life is certainly not for everyone, but for some, it is literally the American dream come to life. While I have been really entranced by the sister power of Tiny and Snail and ilootpaperie lately, I am also in awe of married couples who make it all happen amidst minor details like day jobs and raising children. Yet despite all the potential downfalls and added stresses, such brands can not only become a source of income and an entry into new worlds, they become a living, breathing extension of the couple itself.
Maybe that is why I am so obsessed with discovering brands as close to their incorporation as possible — their work is a glimpse into intensely private, vibrant worlds. And J6R6 is a great one to discover and explore. Literally named for its founders Jason and Rachel Six, there is a clear division of labor here. Jason is the designer, while Rachel is the artist — or as they put it, she brings life to the canvas, he brings order to it.
However they break it down, J6R6 is a charming reenvisioning of the world around us. I am particularly enthralled with their card backs — imagery this enchanting needs to be fully shown!

It is very hard not get attached to their vibrant animal and insect menagerie, shown below in card, sticker and art print form. As much as I love J6R6’s flora and fauna, I’m glad to see their scope extending to everyday objects that could use some reexamination as well.

Meanwhile, last week Rachel sent me a peek at their newest designs. Personally, I am smitten with the colored envelopes and the fun messaging on front — it’s exciting to see this range already evolving.

You can shop this Michigan family brand here — and, if you are seeking fresh wares for your own shop, J6R6 is also on a Top Shop on Faire! My gut says this house of stationery is definitely going to good places, so remember you saw them here first.
