Warming Thoughts: Curly Girl Design

Here in Ohio, we are supposed to experience an 18-degree rise in temperature today — all the way up to a sweltering 21 degrees! —  so it seems the ideal time to debut a new department, Warming Thoughts. Alongside great imagery, designers seamlessly incorporate so much wisdom into their product lines — and no one does this quite like Leigh Standley of Curly Girl Design. Her work is such an engaging blend of freewheeling optimism, spunky humor and compassionate acceptance of life’s imperfect situations that you would think it was created by someone who slowly learned it over the course of many, many years — yet Leigh is a new mom to recently born twins.

The laptop skins shown above and below fit 15″ laptops, but can fit on smaller notebooks, you just trim them down. $24.

Leigh’s work can be found on products spanning from apparel to kitchen, gifts to home office, which means, of course, lots and lots of amazing stationery. This is one of my favorite cards, considered a classic to Leigh’s many fans and perfect for the New Year. It’s appropriately blank inside, and you can shop this design and her others here. $3.95.

    1. This is what I heard back from my contact at Curly Girl: “The skins measure 9.25″ tall and a little over 14″ wide. They will fit un-trimmed on 15 and 17″ laptops, and can trimmed to fit on a 13″ laptop without having to lose much of the artwork and none of the words. Trimming them to fit a tablet would be pushing it since the skins are build for ‘landscape’ viewing, they will lose a lot of the artwork and the words. We are considering doing tablet skins, but since so many keep coming out, it’s hard to really work with them. (For that reason), we do not have tablet skins specifically on the horizon.”
      Sorry the news isn’t better!
