The Eternal Superbloom Summer

To see flowers in bloom is always a gorgeous vision, but there is something about seeing them blossom unseasonably that grabs me every time. When Thanksgiving rolls around and my family travels from Cleveland — always uniformly gray in November — to Palm Beach — vibrantly alive with nearly neon flora and fauna — the drive from the airport to my mother-in-law’s house always feels like arriving in Oz.

Thus, this floral range from Shorthand — appropriately dubbed Superbloom — feels like a warm hug as the temperature drops and the ground freezes over. But these are no ordinary flowers!

Because each is letterpressed, each color you see necessitates a separate run through the letterpress; meanwhile, papers must be lined up perfectly every time so that every detail is where it needs to be.

Two gorgeous colorways span across a meticulous stationery range. The heartfelt yet not saccharine messaging is another Shorthand signature.

Superbloom also comes on planners, reporters, task pads, the standard notebook and — be still my heart! — a lefty standard notebook (not shown in the pic below).

I can’t finish this post without mentioning that Shorthand has introduced two spook-tacular Halloween cards this year. Now that I’ve explained the letterpress process, it should be clear exactly why that baby on the right is so amazing!

Over the years I have covered this iconic LA brand (and store!) here, here, here (when Rosanna came into The Paper Fold!), and here. This house of stationery has clearly evolved over time, but the Shorthand team remains utterly devoted to connecting us authentically as we stay on task.

Consumers, shop here, and if you are interested in wholesale, here’s where to start your shop stock!
