A Kickstarter post is a first for this old nerd, and I haven’t posted here this early in the week for YEARS, so you just know something fabulous follows! While you are undoubtedly reading my words on a screen right now, as compelling as they are, you are still passively experiencing them and are not as present, alive and engaged as you could be.
Hailing from my neck of the woods and founded by Lora DiFranco, Free Period Press has built Kickstarter into its business model. In fact, 13 years ago, this Cleveland stationery brand published one of the first adult coloring books on the platform. Times have certainly changed since 2013 however — and Lora and team have crafted two compelling creations for a cozy, screen-free fall.

First up, meet the Five-Minute Coloring Book. There is no shortage of adult coloring books out there, and no shortage of unused adult coloring books gathering dust. So, the entire concept has been revisited and reformulated for your analog coloring pleasure.

Inside, you’ll find 60 lively single-sided designs on thick paper, based on best-selling stickers, that are simple enough to finish in one sitting and most satisfying to bring to colorful life.

With a sweet little trim size of 5.75” x 6.5,” it’s small enough to tuck into your bag and whip out instead of your phone. The top spiral allows the tiny tome to lay flat — and doesn’t discriminate against lefties (on behalf of all southpaws, thank you!).

Next up, meet The Vision Board Book: Anti-Hustle Edition.
Love vision boards but not the usual saccharine sports cars, money piles and unrealistic looking women that typically populate them? These images are centered around in Lora’s words “what the good life means to us — a life where family and friends come first, screens know their place, and ambition is a word reserved for friendships, not bank accounts.”

Free Period Press’ Vision Board Books have already sold over 50,000 copies; this new Anti-Hustle Edition was designed to build on those as it takes these concepts to the next level. Inside are 120 perforated pages of curated images and words, replacing dozens of magazines. A back-cover pocket holds your scraps if you need stop midway through — there’s even a fold-out vision board inside!
Of course Vision Board Books lend themselves to a multitude of other uses: junk journaling, handmade cards, scrapbooks, art journals, even mail art. “We designed it that way on purpose,” Lora explains. “It’s about the journey, not the (vision board) destination!”

This is Free Period Press’ 10th Kickstarter campaign; as I mentioned above, it helps offset the enormous costs and risks of designing and printing new product. Over time, this brand had formed a Kickstarter community who benefit from first dibs, early bird discounts, and all of the perks they can muster!
Their goal with this campaign is to find 100 creative souls to help Free Period Press launch with a bang — maybe you will be one of them? Meanwhile, the funding goal has more than already been doubled, so this Kickstarter is officially happening. That means if you back this project, your order will ship out as soon as the books arrive.

And here are those perks I mentioned above! There is special Kickstarter pricing for the “Both Books Bundle” tier and above; bigger discounts the more copies you order (perfect for craft nights, workshops, and holiday gifting); free shipping within the U.S.; AND you’ll also three favorite recently released stickers.
As of this writing, the campaign has 74 backers and four days to go. So, don’t delay — head on over to Free Period Press’ Kickstarter for more details and to join in the creative fun!
