My niece, who just completed all her education and started her first “real” job — as a veterinarian! — recently moved into her first “real” apartment. When my daughter Veronica and I visited, I was suitably impressed and proud of course, but completely struck by her bare walls. “I’ll help you fill them,” I promised her before we left.
Since then, I have walked Atlanta Market, which, at a million square feet, is packed with wall art, and this weekend I head to Manhattan to walk NY NOW and Shoppe Object to undoubtedly witness a lot more. All the while I have been wondering, what goes into deciding what we put on our walls? After all, we look at it every day, so these images set not just the day’s mood, but quietly solidify our very perspective on life itself.
If you have some empty walls of your own to fill — or even a bare spot begging for eye candy — there is a prolific cache of vibrant imagery at Shades of Expressions Designs with which to fill it. Whether you are seeking a pretty landscape, an exotic locale, to feed a passion for fashion or sports, or just to gaze at a sweet furry friend, you can definitely find that (and a whole lot more) here!

It’s incredible, the places you can go from a humble 8-by-10-inch format. While there is a fresh focus on shopping American these days, this house of stationery and gifts has and always will hail from New Jersey!
Shop this multi-generation, women-owned family business on Etsy (where they are, unsurprisingly, a 5-star seller), direct from their website — you can find the art prints here — or, if you are in the trade, on Faire. However you connect, be sure to say that Sarah sent you!
