<p>There’s very few things I swoon more for than a collab that highlights the best of two distinct creative worlds. These collections always bring so much to the design table. As such, I&#8217;ve nerded out about those between <a href="https://thepapernerd.com/2021co-x-tommy-bahama/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">2021Co. x Tommy Bahama</a>, <a href="https://thepapernerd.com/thomas-lelu-x-gry-mattr/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Thomas Lélu x gry mattr</a>, <a href="https://thepapernerd.com/open-sea-design-co-x-the-bride/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Open Sea Design Co. x THE BRIDE!</a>, <a href="https://thepapernerd.com/dealtry-x-hartland-brooklyn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">DEALTRY x Hartland Brooklyn</a> — but when one of the collaborators happens to be Lindsay Henry of <a href="https://inklingspaperie.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Inklings Paperie</a>, that&#8217;s a horse of a completely different color! Such projects are actually a special Inklings sauce: would you believe this is the second time this week I have written about an Inklings collab? (Find the other in the upcoming summer issue of <a href="https://stationerytrends.com/">Stationery Trends</a>.) </p>

<p>Lindsay&#8217;s latest is with a fellow fabulous woman-run Detroit brand— the ultra-artisanal, avant-garde chocolatier <a href="https://bonbonbon.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bon Bon Bon</a>, also run by an incredibly creative creative, Alex Clark. Bon Bon Bon&#8217;s limited-edition Spring collection, Made From Scratch, is out just in time for Mother&#8217;s Day. Like all Bon Bon Bon confections, these 12 Bons are made from scratch, but the scratch-off packaging imbues it with an extra layer of meaning and interaction! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/IMG_2166-1-768x1024.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-10021345"/></figure>

<p>Such is the wonder of the collection that it is *even* irresistible to Almond Moms like myself (I come by that somewhat sarcastic GenZ moniker honestly, from my own child). Yesterday I splurged on a set for myself — it should arrive by 6 pm tonight! — and reached out to Lindsay for a quick quote. Instead, she provided a first-person back &#8220;Bon&#8221; story I could not resist sharing:</p>

<p><em>My best friend Tara first introduced me to Bon Bon Bon chocolates. She proudly shared that a former student of hers, Alex Clark, was doing some really interesting things with chocolate and had founded her own artisan chocolate company in Hamtramck, Detroit. As a designer, I was struck by the unique presentation of their packaging (along with the delicious assortment of chocolates, all hand poured and made with care). Bon Bon Bon has been a company I&#8217;ve had a secret crush on for years, and their chocolates have been my go-to gift for some really special clients I&#8217;ve worked with. They ship all across the U.S. and their chocolates make a real impact &#8230; I dare you not to be impressed by them!</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/DSC_0652-Edit-819x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-10021338"/></figure>

<p><em>When I was volunteering with the Greeting Card Association last fall and planning the annual conference in Detroit, Alex came to mind as a potential speaker as we were looking for inspiring companies who were doing really cool, disruptive things in their respective spaces. Alex and her team graciously agreed to come to the conference to share the Bon Bon Bon story, and while there we struck a connection. </em></p>

<p><em>A few months later, Alex reached out about an idea: a collab for their Spring 2026 Collection featuring packaging designed by Inklings! It took me about a half second to agree to it. They shared the flavors they had in mind for the collection, and I put together a mood board and pitched the &#8220;Made from Scratch&#8221; name to weave together our brands in a conceptual way: Their made-from-scratch chocolates, and our whimsical scratch-off cards. </em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/IMG_2122-768x1024.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-10021330"/></figure>

<p><em>So much love went into every detail of this collection. We hand-applied every scratch-off sticker in our studio and cut the edges of each recipe card by hand with pinking shears to give them a handmade feel. The water-activated packaging tape that runs the entire length of their signature corrugated box features a pattern with illustrations inspired by the menu: Hummingbird Cake, London Fog, Princess Cake, lemon zest, and some vintage-inspired Pyrex bowls and measuring spoons reminiscent of my own grandmother&#8217;s kitchen. Creating all these little illustrations actually inspired a new product line that we&#8217;ll launch this summer &#8230; stay tuned!</em></p>

<p><em>My favorite part of working on this collab was how absolutely lovely the entire Bon Bon Bon team was to work with. It&#8217;s no surprise that their company has found so much success given the many smart, passionate and kind people working towards a common goal. From the very start, Alex set the vision and created such an amazing energy around this project and our collab. Some truly good people are creating the magic at Bon Bon Bon, and we were so delighted to be invited to be a part of what they&#8217;re doing! They truly lived up to their mantra, &#8216;Good people deserve good chocolate.'&#8221; </em></p>

<p>The spring box set includes twelve Bons in all-new flavors only available in this collection. Featuring flavors like Butter Cake, Hummingbird Cake, Tea Cake, and Princess Cake, you might say this collection is very cake-forward. However these Bon flavors pull inspiration from other culinary realms as well, including beverages like Coffee Caramel, Champagne Cocktail, and London Fog, which features Earl Grey tea and lavender.</p><div class="inline-post clearfix"><div class="see-also byline">See also</div><div id="block-wrap-98181" class="block-wrap-native block-wrap block-wrap-23 block-css-98181 block-wrap-classic columns__m--1 elements-design-3 block-ani block-skin-0 tipi-box block-wrap-thumbnail ppl-m-1 clearfix" data-id="98181" data-base="0"><div class="tipi-row-inner-style clearfix"><div class="tipi-row-inner-box contents sticky--wrap"><div class="block block-23 clearfix"><article class="tipi-xs-12 clearfix with-fi ani-base tipi-xs-typo split-1 split-design-1 loop-0 preview-thumbnail preview-23 elements-design-3 post-10015996 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-favorites tag-adam-klassen tag-brittany-trafford tag-design tag-faire tag-furoshiki tag-greeting-cards tag-lzysunday tag-nina-clausonet tag-sarah-schwartz tag-sophia-choi tag-stationery tag-stationery-blog tag-stationery-design tag-stationery-designer" style="--animation-order:0"><div class="preview-mini-wrap clearfix"><div class="mask"><a href="https://thepapernerd.com/a-japanese-tradition-for-our-times/" class="mask-img"><img width="100" height="100" src="https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=100%2C100&;ssl=1" class="attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?w=1200&;ssl=1 1200w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=850%2C850&;ssl=1 850w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=1024%2C1024&;ssl=1 1024w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=100%2C100&;ssl=1 100w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=770%2C770&;ssl=1 770w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=120%2C120&;ssl=1 120w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=275%2C275&;ssl=1 275w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=372%2C372&;ssl=1 372w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=567%2C567&;ssl=1 567w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=882%2C882&;ssl=1 882w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=752%2C752&;ssl=1 752w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=24%2C24&;ssl=1 24w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=48%2C48&;ssl=1 48w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=96%2C96&;ssl=1 96w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=150%2C150&;ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=300%2C300&;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/3.jpg?resize=50%2C50&;ssl=1 50w" sizes="(max-width: 100px) 100vw, 100px" /></a></div><div class="meta"><div class="byline byline-2 byline-cats-design-4"><div class="byline-part cats"><a href="https://thepapernerd.com/category/favorites/" style="color:#b79b0d" class="cat">Favorites</a></div></div><div class="title-wrap"><h3 class="title"><a href="https://thepapernerd.com/a-japanese-tradition-for-our-times/">A Japanese Tradition for our Times</a></h3></div><div class="byline byline-3"><span class="byline-part date"><i class="tipi-i-calendar" aria-hidden="true"></i> <time class="entry-date published dateCreated flipboard-date" datetime="2024-06-20T18:30:40+00:00">June 20, 2024</time></span><span class="byline-part likes-count"><a href="#" class="tipi-like-count " data-pid="10015996"><span class="likes-heart"><i class="tipi-i-heart-o" aria-hidden="true"></i><i class="tipi-i-heart" aria-hidden="true"></i></span><span class="tipi-value">0</span></a></span></div></div></div></article></div></div></div></div></div></tipimidc>

<p>There is something very powerful about creative women &#8216;birthing&#8217; the collection for Mother&#8217;s Day. &#8220;The Spring Collection is one that we especially cherish because so many women in the Bon BonBon community have mothered or influenced us, providing examples of what is possible in both our own parenting and our creative endeavors. Lindsay is one of those people.” said Alex Clark, who was born and raised in Plymouth, Michigan, herself. “Inklings is so authentic and charming, it’s an honor to feature them. Their team surprises and delights through thoughtful beautiful, tactile objects and because so much of what we do is dedicated to the same, we’ve repeatedly found delight in unexpected, lovely, and delicious synergies that we couldn’t have expected simply because we don’t eat paper. At least not anymore.”</p>
