<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As you&#8217;ve hopefully heard, there’s a huge can’t-miss industry event this week, courtesy of the <a href="https://www.greetingcard.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Greeting Card Association</a>.<a href="A Focus on Diversity" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> </a><a href="https://www.bigmarker.com/greeting-card-association/Noted-A-Focus-on-Diversity?utm_bmcr_source=sarah" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Noted: A Focus on Diversity</a> is Thursday, July 16. During it, nine Black makers will &#8220;pitch&#8221; their greeting card line to a pitch panel comprised of top retailers and, hopefully, you. The pitch panel features Vanessa Raptopoulos, <a href="https://www.awesomebrooklyn.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Awesome Brooklyn</a>; Chandra Greer, <a href="https://greerchicago.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Greer Chicago</a>; Kristina Burkey, <a href="https://calliopepaperie.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Calliope Paperie</a>; and Kyle Williams, <a href="https://www.papersource.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paper Source</a> — as well as any retailer or sales rep wanting to diversify their offerings. During the hour, attendees will virtually get acquainted with these up-and-coming makers and download samples of their work, all for only $10 — ;half of which is earmarked for a Noted 2021 scholarship for a maker of color.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Over these past several days I was lucky enough to interview three of the makers: Tiffany Grimes of <a href="https://www.paperrehab.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paper Rehab</a> in Michigan, Lauren-Ashley Barnes at <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/PineappleSunStudio" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pineapple Sundays Design Studio</a> in Chicago and Andrea Williams at <a href="https://www.paisleypaperco.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paisley Paper Co.</a> ;in Detroit. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Each of these talented young women have a dynamic vision that comes through strong in their offerings. Tiffany started Paper Rehab as a way to increase diversity in greeting cards but her mission morphed into one focusing on strengthening relationships amongst women, specifically African-American women. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lauren-Ashley designs product for a gift company, but her dream of producing stationery crystallized during a visit to Paper Source — who she will be pitching to later this week! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">And Andrea transmitted her love of classic Blue Note album covers into graphic stationery selections that are completely of our time. ;</p><div class="inline-post clearfix"><div class="see-also byline">See also</div><div id="block-wrap-50695" class="block-wrap-native block-wrap block-wrap-23 block-css-50695 block-wrap-classic columns__m--1 elements-design-3 block-ani block-skin-0 tipi-box block-wrap-thumbnail ppl-m-1 clearfix" data-id="50695" data-base="0"><div class="tipi-row-inner-style clearfix"><div class="tipi-row-inner-box contents sticky--wrap"><div class="block block-23 clearfix"><article class="tipi-xs-12 clearfix with-fi ani-base tipi-xs-typo split-1 split-design-1 loop-0 preview-thumbnail preview-23 elements-design-3 post-10017409 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-favorites tag-andmore tag-angela-schmook tag-atlanta-market tag-ctw-home-collection tag-daniel-richards tag-design tag-dillon-womack tag-ejibola-adetokunbo-taiwo tag-erik-legenhausen tag-fire-pine tag-gift-for-life tag-gift-shop-plus tag-greeting-cards tag-janie-velencia tag-lauren-hawkins tag-legacy-publishing tag-liesel-anne-callahan tag-lotus-jewelry-studio tag-noble-micks tag-renata-bokalo tag-road-runners tag-rock-paper-scissors tag-ryan-martz tag-sarah-schwartz tag-shannon-martin tag-shannon-martin-design tag-shipfluence tag-shoppe-object tag-simply-ejibola tag-specialty-wholesale-talent-association tag-spotlight-awards tag-stationery tag-stationery-blog tag-stationery-design tag-stationery-designer tag-stationery-trends tag-thank-you-stationery tag-the-card-bureau tag-transpac-brands" style="--animation-order:0"><div class="preview-mini-wrap clearfix"><div class="mask"><a href="https://thepapernerd.com/spotlight-awards-on-atlanta/" class="mask-img"><img width="100" height="100" src="https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=100%2C100&;ssl=1" class="attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=100%2C100&;ssl=1 100w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=120%2C120&;ssl=1 120w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=293%2C293&;ssl=1 293w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=275%2C275&;ssl=1 275w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=372%2C372&;ssl=1 372w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=567%2C567&;ssl=1 567w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=882%2C882&;ssl=1 882w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=24%2C24&;ssl=1 24w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=48%2C48&;ssl=1 48w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=96%2C96&;ssl=1 96w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=150%2C150&;ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=300%2C300&;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?resize=50%2C50&;ssl=1 50w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SpotlightAwards_Logo_Black-copy.jpg?zoom=2&;resize=100%2C100&;ssl=1 200w" sizes="(max-width: 100px) 100vw, 100px" /></a></div><div class="meta"><div class="byline byline-2 byline-cats-design-4"><div class="byline-part cats"><a href="https://thepapernerd.com/category/favorites/" style="color:#b79b0d" class="cat">Favorites</a></div></div><div class="title-wrap"><h3 class="title"><a href="https://thepapernerd.com/spotlight-awards-on-atlanta/">Spotlight (Awards) on Atlanta!</a></h3></div><div class="byline byline-3"><span class="byline-part date"><i class="tipi-i-calendar" aria-hidden="true"></i> <time class="entry-date published dateCreated flipboard-date" datetime="2024-12-13T15:35:29+00:00">December 13, 2024</time></span><span class="byline-part likes-count"><a href="#" class="tipi-like-count " data-pid="10017409"><span class="likes-heart"><i class="tipi-i-heart-o" aria-hidden="true"></i><i class="tipi-i-heart" aria-hidden="true"></i></span><span class="tipi-value">1</span></a></span></div></div></div></article></div></div></div></div></div></tipimidc>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">All three also shared that paper found them in the midst of other careers, which makes their stationery selections that much more compelling and authentic. I&#8217;m guessing it will be nearly impossible to leave that hour uninspired by the current state of stationery, so don&#8217;t miss out! ;</p>
