<p>I&#8217;ve seen endless stationery inspired by films, but this, my fine nerd friends, is the first instance I&#8217;ve heard of a stationery range created in collaboration with a major motion picture release. The film in question is <a href="https://www.thebridemovie.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">THE BRIDE!</a> from Warner Bros. Pictures, only in theatres March 6 — and it is written and directed by a familiar star in her own right, Maggie Gyllenhaal.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OPEN_SEA_THE_BRIDE03-Edit-1-819x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-10020709"/></figure>

<p>The film is a bold reimagining of the classic Frankenstein story (originally written by a woman, Mary Shelley, and also considered the first true work of science fiction) and stars Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Penélope Cruz and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film has already generated attention for its distinctive look, genre-blending storytelling, and fresh take in one of cinema’s (and literature&#8217;s) most iconic characters.</p>

<p>Perhaps a film-stationery collaboration is merely a reflection of paper&#8217;s current trendiness — but this nerd hopes it is instead a recognition of our humble medium&#8217;s distinctive ability to harness a larger moment or idea on an individual scale. Stationery is far more meaningful than your average licensed product, and as such, this limited-edition collection exists at the intersection of film, art, and self-expression — inviting viewers to connect with the onscreen themes of THE BRIDE! through tangible, beautifully crafted objects.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OPEN_SEA_THE_BRIDE01-1-819x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-10020707"/></figure>

<p>THE BRIDE! features a darkly stylized 1930s Chicago setting, and explores 2026-friendly themes of identity, transformation, and unconventional love. Thus <a href="https://openseadesignco.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Open Sea Design Co.</a>, a vintage-inspired brand known for its meticulous, fantastic and occasionally far-out approach to stationery, is the perfect collaborative partner.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OPEN_SEA_THE_BRIDE05-Edit-1-819x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-10020710"/></figure>

<p>The collection transforms the film’s striking gothic romance and vintage cinematic aesthetic into an IRL collection of art prints, notebooks, greeting cards, and keepsake paper goods designed for collectors, film enthusiasts, and lovers of print. Clearly, it brings the emotional tone and artistic direction of the film into everyday storytelling objects — namely, stationery! — that invite fans to engage with the film in a tactile, personal and lasting way.</p>

<p>The luxe grouping of 16 includes: illustrated art prints inspired by key visual motifs and cinematic moments from the film; premium notebooks designed to reflect the film’s gothic and vintage design language; greeting cards featuring original artwork created exclusively for the collaboration; and special edition keepsake paper goods and giftable items designed for film fans and collectors.</p><div class="inline-post clearfix"><div class="see-also byline">See also</div><div id="block-wrap-86766" class="block-wrap-native block-wrap block-wrap-23 block-css-86766 block-wrap-classic columns__m--1 elements-design-3 block-ani block-skin-0 tipi-box block-wrap-thumbnail ppl-m-1 clearfix" data-id="86766" data-base="0"><div class="tipi-row-inner-style clearfix"><div class="tipi-row-inner-box contents sticky--wrap"><div class="block block-23 clearfix"><article class="tipi-xs-12 clearfix with-fi ani-base tipi-xs-typo split-1 split-design-1 loop-0 preview-thumbnail preview-23 elements-design-3 post-10013692 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-favorites tag-aliens tag-bigfoot tag-black-line-rainbows tag-cards tag-christine-nardone tag-clowns tag-drunk-santa tag-greeting-cards tag-sarah-schwartz tag-stationery tag-stationery-blog tag-stationery-design tag-stationery-designer" style="--animation-order:0"><div class="preview-mini-wrap clearfix"><div class="mask"><a href="https://thepapernerd.com/crossing-the-black-rainbow-line/" class="mask-img"><img width="100" height="100" src="https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=100%2C100&;ssl=1" class="attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?w=1200&;ssl=1 1200w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=850%2C850&;ssl=1 850w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=1024%2C1024&;ssl=1 1024w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=100%2C100&;ssl=1 100w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=770%2C770&;ssl=1 770w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=120%2C120&;ssl=1 120w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=275%2C275&;ssl=1 275w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=372%2C372&;ssl=1 372w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=567%2C567&;ssl=1 567w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=882%2C882&;ssl=1 882w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=752%2C752&;ssl=1 752w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=24%2C24&;ssl=1 24w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=48%2C48&;ssl=1 48w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=96%2C96&;ssl=1 96w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=150%2C150&;ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=300%2C300&;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/thepapernerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/IMG_4040.jpeg?resize=50%2C50&;ssl=1 50w" sizes="(max-width: 100px) 100vw, 100px" /></a></div><div class="meta"><div class="byline byline-2 byline-cats-design-4"><div class="byline-part cats"><a href="https://thepapernerd.com/category/favorites/" style="color:#b79b0d" class="cat">Favorites</a></div></div><div class="title-wrap"><h3 class="title"><a href="https://thepapernerd.com/crossing-the-black-rainbow-line/">Crossing the Black Rainbow Line</a></h3></div><div class="byline byline-3"><span class="byline-part date"><i class="tipi-i-calendar" aria-hidden="true"></i> <time class="entry-date published dateCreated flipboard-date" datetime="2023-07-11T19:28:35+00:00">July 11, 2023</time></span><span class="byline-part likes-count"><a href="#" class="tipi-like-count " data-pid="10013692"><span class="likes-heart"><i class="tipi-i-heart-o" aria-hidden="true"></i><i class="tipi-i-heart" aria-hidden="true"></i></span><span class="tipi-value">0</span></a></span></div></div></div></article></div></div></div></div></div></tipimidc>

<p>“We aren’t afraid of the monstrous at Open Sea Design Co,” explained Founder and Creative Director Melissa Constandse. “We were intrigued by the female-driven story and rich visual language of the film. I wanted to create something that felt like it was from that world that the audience could take home and carry with them. The work we make here is often delicate and romantic, but also dark and powerful. THE BRIDE! fit right into that lane.”</p>

<p>I had to ask Melissa what her favorite piece was. &#8220;Easy. It’s <a href="https://openseadesignco.com/products/pearls-and-shells-1?_pos=3&;_sid=3fd2756c1&;_ss=r" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the Pearls and Shells oval greeting card</a>, which was inspired by my memories of the Venus grotto at Linderhof Palace. When I was eight years old my parents took me and my siblings on a road trip through Europe. And while I have so many special memories from that trip, one particular place felt like something straight out of my dreams: the Venus grotto. In my memories, it was a Venusian fantasy cavern, with hanging garlands of pink roses, and a gilded shell-shaped boat. This small collage of shells and pearls, in pastel tones, is an interpretation of that very cherished memory, and every time I pack an order with it, I take a little trip back to the grotto.&#8221; </p>
