Atlanta ’16 Highlights, Part 1!

Oh my gosh, what a time I had in Atlanta! I think I will be on visual overdrive for some time as I make sense of everything I saw. My first incredible find was Carson & Co., exhibiting near the entrance to High Design.

This North Carolina-based textile range encompasses silk scarves, handbags, pillows and lamps, all inspired by the natural world — and all incredibly mesmerizing. The designs, infused with colorful flora & fauna, are meticulously created by Susan Carson. It was nice to start the show off with a big swoon and a big hint of the photorealism trend that was in full force. Right next door was Mitchell Black, who has introduced wallpaper — and what patterns! I find it hard to commit to a favorite — the Mid-Century Modern (AKA MidMod) patterns are amazing, but so too are their Art Nouveau designs.  The final swoon of today is the Oliver Gal Artist Co. The South Florida lifestyle brand is spearheaded by sister artists Lola Sánchez & Ana Sánchez Gal. Their enchanting art collections do exactly as they promise — transform blank walls into grand-scale, high-style canvases. In the piece below, you can just make out that the surface is the frame is white with the woman’s silhouette — the fabulous florals peek through from behind.

I’ll be showcasing more of what I found at AmericasMart Atlanta in upcoming posts, and of course in the pages of upcoming issues of Stationery Trends & Gift Shop!
